Costa Rica’s Crocodile Man

The huge crocodiles of the Tarcoles River near the town of Jaco have turned into quiet a tourist attraction.

So much so that the Discovery Channel did an interesting documentary on these reptiles last year. The famous Crocodile Man dangles whole chickens to feed them and has been known to wrestle these beasts, some as large as 10ft. with no fear whatsoever.

Birds of a feather

There is no better place for bird watching than right here in Costa Rica. Almost anywhere you are likely to see very colorful and unfamiliar birds.

From the best parks and reserves, to your own backyard, superior bird watching opportunities are plentiful everywhere.

These magnificent and resplendent creatures are a constant reminder why Costa Rica is visited each year by thousands of avid bird watchers.

Beauty that defies description

One of my preferred leisurely pursuits is to spend some quality time at a beloved area near my home, this quiet desolate beach on the southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica.

As you can see in the photo, this particular beach possesses a tranquil and quiet beauty all its own. This relaxed setting is picture perfect for surfing or sailing or just passing the time away on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Old-fashioned villages

In many of the small out of the way towns of Costa Rica, near the main central park there will usually be an old colonial church or sometimes a more modern one nearby.

These attractive little villages take you back to another time when life was less complicated, and the world was a much safer place.

You’ll see picturesque roads lined with palm trees, where I love to go early in the mornings when the parks are nearly deserted to gather my thoughts, or read a good book.
